Kia Ora Koutou,
Urgent School Closure: Thursday, 23 October
We are writing with an urgent and immediate update regarding the operation of our school tomorrow.
Following our Board of Trustees meeting this evening we have unanimously decided to close the school for the day tomorrow: Thursday 23 October. This decision overrides our earlier communication which advised that school would remain open.
This decision was made after careful consideration of the extreme risk posed by the MetService Red Strong Wind Warning and the widespread shutdown of essential city infrastructure.
Our absolute priority is the safety of your children and our staff. Given the high risk of falling trees, powerlines, and flying debris, and the complete disruption to public transport, we cannot guarantee safe travel to and from school, nor a fully safe environment on site. We will reopen: Friday, 24 October.
We appreciate your immediate understanding and cooperation in keeping our entire community safe during this extreme weather event. Please stay home and avoid any unnecessary travel.
Nō reira, kia tūpato. – Be careful!
