School Board

The School Board is responsible to the St Mark’s Church Vestry for the effective governance of the School. The Board sets policy and delegates its implementation to the Principal.

The Board is formed of the following groups:

Five vestry representatives
Two Parents’ Association members
The Vicar (ex officio)
The Principal (non-voting)

Gareth Bezett

My background is in IT, specialising in accounting and business software. I’m currently working for the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.  I have been involved with the Anglican Church for a number of years in worship, community ministry and administration.  I am currently the chairman of the Finance Committee for the Wellington Diocese.

Keith Newton

I am the newly elected Parent’s Association representative on the Board.  I am married to Jo Davey and we have two sons.  Zach is in Year 4 at St Mark’s and we also have a younger son Toby, age 3.  I am currently the Vice-President of the Parent’s Association, and have been a
member of the Association since 2009.  My career background is in the financial services industry both in the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

Velna McConchie

My family has been involved in St Mark’s since 1966 and I now have two grandsons attending the school.  I spent 13 years on the St Mark’s Board from 1992, and on the Board of an integrated school for seven years.  I have taught in state schools, independent schools and integrated schools.  I have also worked in the school office of an integrated school for eight years.

Scott Moran

I am married to Kerina Kinajil and we have 3 children at St Marks. Tara in Year 2, Logan in Year 5 and Brooke in Year 7.  I have been involved with the St Mark’s Parents’ Association for the last four years and currently as Vice President.  I have previously been a trustee and chair of the Capital City Preschool Charitable Trust that operates Capital City Preschool here in Wellington. I am Partner at Duncan Cotterill, a trans-Tasman law firm and currently sit on the firm’s board. I predominantly work in the commercial, ICT and Intellectual Property areas of law.

David Nicholson

Debbie and I have been associated with St Mark’s since 2010.  Our son Samuel is in Year 1EH.  I have a range of experience in the education sector, starting as a teacher and school board of trustees member of a secondary school, then working in management roles in the Ministry of Education and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.  I am currently employed as the Director of Tertiary Investment and Monitoring at the Tertiary Education Commission.  Along the way, I have also worked in public service management roles in the welfare and health sectors.

Roger Wigglesworth

Judith and I have been St Mark’s parents since 1994.  Mark ( Year 8 ) is our third son to be educated at the school.  I have worked in human resources and organisational development roles in the State Services Commission, The Treasury and Tower.  Currently I am a Director in the Tourism, Major Events and Consumer Affairs Branch in the Ministry of Economic Development.  I am Chairman of the Administration Committee and a member of the Board of Nomination for the Wellington Anglican Diocese.  I am one of the Parents’ Association representatives on the Board.
